Colombia Tech Week: From Data Chaos to Growth Infrastructure

How Muno Labs built the data, product, and growth infrastructure for Colombia's largest tech event ecosystem.

Data InfrastructureDigital ProductsGrowth Systems
TL;DR

Colombia Tech organizes Colombia's biggest tech events (20,000+ attendees) but had zero internal tech capability. Muno Labs embedded as their fractional growth & tech team - building a CDP with PostHog, shipping the AI Summit digital product, and deploying automated growth flows. The result: from total data chaos to a clear, operational growth architecture.

01The Client

Colombia Tech is the organizer behind Colombia Tech Week, AI Summit, and Colombia TechFest - events that bring together over 20,000 attendees and position Colombia as a regional technology hub.

Their ambition: become the biggest tech media company in Colombia, then expand across Latin America. Their revenue model combines B2B sponsorships (corporates, large startups, global companies) with B2C ticket sales.

02The Problem

Despite running high-profile events at massive scale, Colombia Tech had fundamental infrastructure gaps:

  • Zero internal tech capability - no engineers, no data team, no technical leadership
  • Scattered, disorganized data across spreadsheets, email lists, and disconnected tools
  • No unified customer view - attendees, sponsors, and leads lived in completely different silos
  • No infrastructure for growth automation - every campaign was manual, every follow-up ad hoc
  • Frequent internal team changes made institutional knowledge fragile and continuity difficult

03What We Built

Data Infrastructure & Tracking

We deployed a Customer Data Platform (CDP) using PostHog to centralize all user events - registrations, purchases, web interactions - unifying attendees, sponsors, and leads into a single source of truth.

We connected PostHog to event websites (like the AI Summit), CRM, and email/marketing tools, then designed the full data architecture: when someone registers or purchases a ticket, their profile is created or updated in PostHog, which feeds the CRM, email marketing platforms, and reporting dashboards. Email response events (opens, clicks) flow back into PostHog for complete historical tracking.

Digital Product for AI Summit

We handled branding, structure, and key page design for the AI Summit (~2,000 attendees). Using no-code/low-code tools guided by custom design wireframes, we shipped a production-ready event site rapidly.

Ticketing integration included full purchase flows, registration, and conversion tracking connected to the CDP - giving the team visibility into every step of the purchase funnel for the first time.

Growth & Automations

We designed and implemented abandoned cart recovery flows with triggers from the ticketing platform and web events, including multi-step message sequences to recover incomplete purchases.

We also deployed launch and presale campaigns, plus a segmentation strategy that split audiences into sponsors, past attendees, and new leads - enabling targeted messaging and activation for each group.

04Results

While the engagement is ongoing, the transformation is already visible:

Before
After Muno
Scattered spreadsheets & email lists
Unified CDP with PostHog
Manual campaign execution
Automated abandoned cart & remarketing flows
Zero internal tech capability
Self-serve tools the team can operate independently
No conversion tracking
Full-funnel visibility from first visit to ticket purchase

Clear Data Architecture

From total data chaos to a structured, unified system that feeds every marketing and sales decision.

Smart Campaign Capabilities

Abandoned cart flows, event-triggered remarketing, and segmented campaigns - all automated.

Operational Independence

The team can now operate without an internal tech team using the self-serve tools we configured.

Ecosystem Access

Muno Labs positioned with stable presence at Colombia's key tech events and direct access to corporate decision-makers.

05Key Takeaways

  1. You don't need an internal tech team to have world-class growth infrastructure - you need the right embedded partner.
  2. Data architecture comes first. Without a unified customer view, every campaign and product decision is flying blind.
  3. Speed matters more than perfection. No-code/low-code tools shipped faster than a custom build ever could.
  4. Strategic partnerships that align incentives create more value than pure fee-for-service engagements.
